NEWS: Now recruiting applications for Inter BEE 2018, the professional audio, video, and communications exhibition: Featuring new 4K8K satellite broadcasting and new 5G plans for content businesses
Applications for Inter BEE 2018, the professional audio, video, and communications exhibition to be held for 3 days from November 14th to 16th at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, are being accepted as of March 1st. The first application deadline is Thursday, May 31st, and the second application deadline is Friday, June 29th. The event will be sponsored by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA: Chairman Shusaku Nagae/ Panasonic Corporation).
Now in its 54th year, Inter BEE is Japan's largest professional exhibition in the media and entertainment field. In an ever diversifying media and content creation environment, Inter BEE aims to provide opportunities for new user experiences as a comprehensive media event centered on content and incorporating elements of "creation," "transmission," and "experience."
Through spaces for various experiences facilitated by production and transmission services and devices, as well as diverse programs such as discussion sessions with actual creators and transmitters, Inter BEE has always created an environment for lively communication between mutually interested parties. There are plans to boost that experience even further this year.
■Jointly held with Digital Content Expo 2018
One of those plans is to hold Inter BEE alongside the Digital Content Expo 2018. Hosted by the Digital Content Association of Japan, this Expo previously held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation will now share the Inter BEE venue.
The Digital Content Expo is an international event for cutting edge content technology that was held for the 10th time last year. By holding these events together, we can introduce diverse technologies that support content creation and enrich our expressiveness, such as VR, AR, MR, 3D, CG, AI, IoT, drones, and robotics. With the cooperation of Inter BEE Ignition, which Inter BEE has been running since the year before last, visitors can experience the near future of media.
■New 4K8K satellite broadcasting will change content creation and television viewing
New 4K8K satellite broadcasting will begin on December 1st this year. We will have a corner to promote and spread awareness of this new 4K8K satellite broadcasting and to propose new video and audio technologies to broadcasting and communications businesses and content creators. We will also provide information on the viewing experience and supported receivers to install before broadcasting begins.
■Uses of 5G in media and entertainment
In preparation for the start of the service in 2020, we will also prepare an area where visitors can experience the media and entertainment possibilities of the "fifth generation mobile communication system (5G)," the new network the whole world is talking about.
■Exhibitor and visitor numbers reached all-time high last year
Last year's Inter BEE 2017 used all of Makuhari Messe's Halls 1-8. 1,139 companies exhibited, which was the highest number ever. 102 conference sessions were also held, and the total number of attendees over all three days was 38,083, making this event the biggest ever by all measures.
