The VED-200 series checks both AV file quality and image / acoustic information. It also inspects syntax correctness during encoding, and checks video and audio quality.

Image inspection examines at 14 different factors, including blocking effects, errors in interlace processing, and the occurrence of stripe noise. Acoustic inspection checks 12 factors, including channel balance and high frequency noise. The VED-200 series also offers functions such as macroscopic examination support that provide assistance after automatic detection.

The RED series checks the quality of the encoding of images and audio embedded in SDI signals. While the checking functions of the RED series have been pared down to the basics compared with those the VED-200, the RED series can be augmented with new checking functions by adding of an error module.
