MainConcept Japan, the Japanese arm of the German company MainConcept, exhibited the companys Blu-ray 3D/MVC SDK application software development kit that uses audio and video codecs to enable 3D Blu-ray encoding.

MainConcept ships Codec SDK software development kits for a wide range of encoding formats including MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, VC-1. Application development software companies purchase MainConcept's SDK's and use the codecs in their applications.

Examples that have adopted MainConcept's SDK's include well-known applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, and the Pegasys TMPEG Enc product. The Blu-ray 3D/MVC SDK on display this time will be implemented by developers of encoding software for 3D Blu-ray. This product has been speedily commercialized for the new MVC standard (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 extension. Defined in Annex H) that was introduced last year.

The company also exhibited a standalone transcoder application Reference Ver.2. This application is capable of loading wide-ranging codec and file formats, and can output whatever codec format is required. AVC/H.264 can be handled with a CUDA encoding update from NVIDIA, and offers huge increases in encoding speed with GPU hardware.

The company's reputation for picture quality stands at the heart of MainConcept's encoder products. This product enables many parameter adjustments, giving application developers and end-users the ability to control parameters as needed. In addition to MainConcept's reputation for picture quality, the functionality that the company includes in its products is also highly acclaimed.
