Nexto DI (video/broadcast equipment division #6106) is showing the NVS-Air memory backup device. This product backs up data securely and reliably and therefore enables memory card re-use. The backed up data can be saved onto an external drive. The selling point is the cost reduction that it can realize, as it eliminates the need for numerous, expensive large capacity memory cards.

■ Rapid backup of 32GB in approx. 5 minutes
NVS-Air is the latest model in the NVS series line of memory card backup devices offered by Nexto DI. It supports a wide variety of memory cards (P2, SxS, SD, CF) and file systems (FAT32, exFAT, UDF).
Quick backup can be performed by inserting the memory card into the slot on the side of the device, then following the simple operating instructions on the screen by key pad control. 1GB of data can be copied in around 10 seconds. Even 32GB of data can be completely copied over in around 5 minutes. There are two types of memory medium for the device, a HDD type of 750GB and SSD type of 512GB.
It is compatible with USB3.0 and Firewire, and can be connected to an external hard drive. Simultaneous backup of the device and external hard drive is possible. The backed up data can be displayed and edited on the screen of the device. It can be used to check that the data was backed up successfully, and to perform simple editing tasks such as deleting unnecessary portions of the data.

■ It can connect to smart devices via Wi-Fi for displaying/editing data.
The new model features an audio jack, which has not been available on previous models. Recorded audio can be checked at the same time by connecting headphones. The Wi-Fi function has also been added. By connecting to iPhone/iPad/Android devices via Wi-Fi, the display and editing of backed up data can be done on a bigger screen.
It is a compact, portable size so can support safe and secure data storage by on-site backup of filmed material. The memory card can also be re-used by deleting the data on the memory card after backing up. It cuts costs by eliminating the need for many memory cards.
Gate, a company supplier, will serve as the Japan sales distributor. Gate is located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. The product sales launch is scheduled for March 2013. The price is expected to be around 200,000 JPY per unit.
