At Inter BEE 2015, AD Techno (booth #4506) exhibited its new SDI optical extender, the UHD_OTR. With a 4-channel SD, HD, and 3G-SDI signal that is SMPTE compliant, the unit allows for long-distance transfer over two fiber-optic cables. A single-mode fiber-optic cable is used to transfer uncompressed video footage at distances up to 10km. Because the data travels over a fiber-optic cable, the cable itself is thin and lightweight, making transport and installation easier. The fiber-optic connector features an LC push-pull layout for easy cable attachment and detachment.

The transfer supports two-wave wavelength division multiplex (WDM), enabling transfer from the transmission unit (TX) to the receiver unit (RX) with a single fiber-optic cable. The unit supports up to four single fiber-optic cables for 4-channel SDI output.

Both the transmission and receiver units are 68x88x20mm and 165g, making them lightweight and small. They can be used and installed in limited, small spaces. The supported input voltage is from DC5V to 24V, covering a wide range. The unit can also be powered by other devices, in addition to with the included AC adapter.

This unit can be used when connecting to a 4K-compatible SDI camera for long-distance transfer of multiple 3G-SDI signals for an event or live performance, for television broadcasts, cable television, and with the fiber-optic cables found at event halls and stadiums.
