Cinemax (booth 6402), which sells and rents professional video equipment, 3D equipment, and camera accessories, showed a wide range of its catalog. In particular, it pitched the way its units can be combined to produce a variety of tools at low cost.

The core of this lineup was the SPIRAL SLIDER DOLLY -KATANA-, which the company developed in 2012. This dolly can be positioned both horizontally and vertically. It can be freely manipulated and rotated in all directions, allowing the shooter to film scenes that simulate a crane effect without taking up space.

■Replicates Panther dolly movement at low cost

Cinemax showed how the SPIRAL SLIDER DOLLY -KATANA- can be combined with a range of equipment. One such combination is the SPIRAL SLIDER DOLLY -KATANA- WITH CD-5 DOLLY TURNSTILE MOUNT. This takes the standard CD-5 DOLLY and pairs it with a turnstile mount to let the cameraman and focuser ride in tandem to control lifts and turns, as well as movements on the Y axis (moves forward and back vis-a-vis the camera). Because this system gives depth and motion to footage, it makes 3D videography even better. This tool achieves the same movement as Panther dollies at a lower cost. Price: ¥24,000/day, ¥2,180,100 purchase price (both pre-tax). Shipping and transport costs extra.

Other key products were:

SPIRAL SLIDER DOLLY -KATANA-Y Axis 1m VERSION WITH RONFORD BAKER ROLLING SPIDER DOLLY

This item features both the functionality of a dolly and a crane and can be installed in spaces under one square meter. It is based on Cinemax's new KATANA model. It can be freely moved and manipulated in all directions, producing footage with a sense of movement and depth. Getting feedback from users at past Inter BEE events, the company produced this new one meter version which lets the shooter move further forward. It was shown for the first time.

SPIRAL SLIDER DOLLY -TATSUMAKI- WITH CMX-MEISTER TRACK 25cm WIDTH NARROW RAIL VERSION

The new TATSUMAKI format takes the existing X-axis slider type and sets it perpendicularly, offering a sliding dolly that can rotate against the Z axis and tripod. Combined with a 25cm rail, the dolly can slide along rails in narrow spaces and perform 360° pans while moving up and down. It can be installed with two removable tripods or as a four-leg version to use it as an X-axis slider.

TELESCOPIC MONOPOD POLELIFT WITH CINEMA GRAPE DOLLY」

This item can be combined with a remote head for remote or computer-based control of the telescopic fulcrum. The height of the remote head system can be freely adjusted by one person (from 1.9 to 4.5 meters). The smooth, variable speed operation expands and contracts almost silently. Attached to the CINEMA GRAPE DOLLY, the system gains a wide range of movement. Tires designed for use on rails can be swapped out for dolly work.
