The penetration of digital terrestrial TV in Japan reached 84% last year, with mobile reception increasing in popularity. Current analog terrestrial TV in Japan will be phased out in 2011, completing the switch to digital. Last year Brazil decided to adopt a digital terrestrial TV system based on the Japanese ISDB-T standard. In addition, substantial progress has been made in the area of R&D on such topics as Ultra-High-Definition TV. This workshop will look at these technologies and others with a focus on future trends.
