Inter BEE 2017

From Tomorrow November 15 (Wed) to 17 (Fri)!

Record High 1,139 Exhibiting Companies/Organizations in 1,983 Booths

The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA: Shusaku Nagae, Chairman / Chairman of the Board of Panasonic Corporation) will hold Inter BEE 2017 [53rd International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition] – a professional exhibition of audio, video and communications – at Makuhari Messe (Mihami-ku, Chiba) over three days from tomorrow November 15 (Wednesday) to 17 (Friday).

There will be a record high 1,139 exhibiting companies and organizations (an increase of 4.5% compared to the previous year). (There were 1,090 exhibiting companies and organizations in 2015.) Of these, there will be 643 exhibiting companies and organizations from 33 countries and regions overseas (an increase of 8.4% compared to the previous year). (There were 593 exhibiting companies and organizations from 34 countries and regions overseas in 2016.) There will be 1,983 booths (an increase of 3.0% compared to the previous year). (There were 1,926 booths in 2016.) We will be expanding the number of exhibition halls in which this event will be held from last year. Inter BEE 2017 will use the entire 54,000 m2 of Makuhari Messe – from International Exhibition Hall 1 to Exhibition Hall 8 – for the first time to hold the largest event in our history together with the Event Hall and International Conference Hall in four categories: Professional Audio Equipment, Video Expression/Professional Lighting, Video Production/Broadcast Equipment and ICT/Cross Media. We are expecting approximately 40,000 visitors over the three days of the event. (There were 38,047 visitors in 2016.)

■Gathering of the Latest 4K/8K Ultra-high Definition Video Technology
Broadcasters will use Inter BEE to report on the status of their preparations toward practical broadcasting in 4K/8K in December 2018. In addition, Inter BEE will bring together under one roof state-of-the-art video/audio production, compression/transmission and display technologies, including 4K/8K shooting/editing technologies as well as high dynamic range (HDR) and high frame rate (HFR). In particular, there is an increase in the number of exhibitors offering 8K technologies. This means that a great many 8K technologies – an unprecedented number even for overseas video-related exhibitions – will gather to be showcased at Inter BEE.

■Attention Also on IP Transmission, Cloud, Net Distribution and 5G Trends
An increasing number of IT-related companies are exhibiting at Inter BEE to utilize clouds toward increasing the efficiency of broadcasting operations or Internet distribution and to capture the Internet protocol (IP) market. There will be companies providing content distribution networks (CDN) for the first time this year. Moreover, new trends not previously seen at Inter BEE will unfold such as the holding of a fifth generation mobile communication system (5G) session in the keynote speech in addition to running the IP Showcase that puts together themes in IP live transmission.

■AI Utilization, VR/AR and New Content Experiences
The technology attracting attention as a new key phrase in this conference program is artificial intelligence (AI). There will be sessions to explore AI utilization and coordination from various perspectives such as increasing the efficiency of program production, making new services, utilizing it in disaster coverage and fusing it with creative. In addition, continuing on from last year, new content experience proposals will be further advanced with 360 degree video, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). This will see many proposals for coordination with sport relay broadcasting or music concerts and utilization in the entertainment field.

■High-quality Sound Experiences Distinctive to Inter BEE
An experience demo of speakers used for live events and other applications will once again be held – this has now become an annual attraction of Inter BEE. This event will bring together a record high of 15 products in the largest arena of the Makuhari Messe Event Hall to allow visitors to experience the quality of loud sound. In addition, the session to experience professional microphones and headphones that was popular last year will again be held this year. This will be a valuable opportunity to see a lineup of high quality products for which there are few chances to listen and compare.

It is possible to experience the media communications and entertainment world of the near future at Inter BEE through exhibitions and presentations of the latest products by companies exhibiting from Japan and overseas, as well as conference sessions and experience events with various themes. We are waiting for the attendance of many individuals, including broadcasters/telecommunications carriers and video/audio production related stakeholders, as well as advertising/marketing personnel from many general companies and local governments, and stakeholders related to design/web production companies and facilities/events.
