MotionElements, which has its headquarters located in Singapore, targeted growth in Japan by showing off its video content market (www.motionelements.com) at their booth (#6204) during the Inter BEE 2014. They also demonstrated their new “Visual Search” technology, demonstrating how conveniently it allows users to search for videos using images rather than text.

■ Providing Over 500,000 Videos and Expanding Japan-Based Content
www.motionelements.com is an online marketplace that makes Asia-based video content available throughout the world. The service offers video content at low costs with no royalties. Users can enjoy more than 500,000 videos, with language support offered in English, Japanese, German, Chinese (unsimplified), and Korean. Along with increasing usage in Asia, the service also plans to make Asia-based video content available in Europe and other global locations as well.
Akihito Kurono of MotionElements’ Japan office offers his perspective, stating that “the Japanese website was updated in August 2014. Our aim in hosting a booth at the Inter BEE 2014 was primarily to promote usage within Japan. But another important goal is to increase the volume of work produced by Japanese creators. While video with a Japanese feel is highly sought after by users overseas, the quantity of Japanese content is still quite low. We want to get the word out about ourselves and our system, which sends 70% of revenues back to the creators."
Content on www.motionelements.com continues to grow at an exponential rate each year. The company hopes to capitalize on this growth to take both the supply and usage of domestic content to the next stage.

■ "Visual Search" Allows Users to Search for Similar Videos Using Images Alone
Visitors to the www.motionelements.com presentation were particularly captivated by its unique “Visual Search” feature. Users typically need to search for keywords that match metadata associated to video content. However, for users from Europe and the Americas, searching for Asian-based content using appropriate terms can be a difficult task. MotionElements’ solution to this issue is Visual Search.
With Visual Search, users can search for video content that resembles still photos. For example, once narrowing a search down to “Sakura” (cherry blossom) related content, a user can then search using a photo featuring cherry blossoms with blue sky in the background to find videos containing similar content. This solution not only absorbs issues related to language barriers, but also allows users to accurate search for video content using images that are difficult to describe explicitly in written form.
The company aims to promote even higher levels of usage by providing this feature, allowing users to easily find what they’re looking for from among more than 500,000 pieces of video content.
