Inter BEE, ABU strengthen ties
1 October 2008: Inter BEE (International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition) of Japan and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union have announced measures to cooperatively promote the development of the broadcasting industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the two organisations outlining proposals for expanding mutual cooperation.
In future years Inter BEE will attend the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium, and the ABU will organise delegation of ABU members to the Inter BEE Forum in Japan.
This measure, among others, is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two organisations and further help development of the broadcasting industry in the region.
Both organisations will work towards identifying more avenues of strengthening the relationship.
"With the closer partnership that the ABU is establishing with Inter BEE, our membership, and rest of the broadcasting industry, will benefit from the resulting synergies that we believe can be achieved between the two organisations," said ABU Secretary-General, David Astley.
In particular, this will be visible in the annual ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium where the brand power of both Inter BEE and the ABU will strengthen the event" he added

It currently has over 190 members in 59 countries, with its broadcaster members reaching a potential audience of about 3 billion people.
