Japan’s Premier Comprehensive International Media Exhibition Based on History and Results
Excitement was conveyed to the world simultaneously for the first time by a satellite relay in 1964 – the year before the 1st Inter BEE. In the fall of 1965 the next year, the Broadcast Equipment Exhibition (the original name of Inter BEE), the predecessor to Inter BEE, started with 12 exhibitors in the Invention Hall in Toranomon, Tokyo as a joint exhibition with the 2nd Technical Report Conference on Commercial Broadcasting in response to an appeal from the Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association (JBA).
Inter BEE, which has been held for half a century since then, has been utilized as an opportunity to become a hub for information dissemination and exchange once a year as a comprehensive international media exhibition that brings together the latest innovations in broadcasting, video, audio, lighting and the media business from inside and outside Japan. This event is held under the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), the Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association (JBA) and the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), and with the cooperation of many other relevant organizations.
Moreover, Inter BEE is leaping ahead toward further major trends. We have been recognized as an official event in the Trade Fair Certification Program by the U.S. Department of Commerce since last year as we accelerate our efforts toward internationalization. In addition, we are looking to link up with trends in the IoT that are expected to bring about progress toward social change in the future.
Inter BEE has built up history and achievements as an opportunity to showcase technological innovation in broadcasting and media. We are now aiming to further develop and evolve under our slogan of “convey to the world the new media possibilities” toward 2020.
Showcasing New Media Possibilities to the World! Simultaneous Holding of Various Conferences
The INTER BEE FORUM is held together with the exhibition. This event will welcome experts and key persons in audio and video from inside and outside Japan to convey to the world the new media possibilities in a total of 15 highly topical sessions to meet the needs of professionals. PDF
