Call for Exhibitors at Inter BEE 2008

November 19 to 21 at Makuhari Messe



TOKYO, MARCH 13, 2008...The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) announced today that the International Broadcasting Equipment Exhibition 2008 (Inter BEE 2008), a major trade show for audio, imaging and communications professionals, will be held at Makuhari Messe (Chiba Prefecture) for three days from Wednesday, November 19, to Friday, November 21. This show is supported by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and the National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan.

JEITA made this announcement and issued its call for exhibitors at an explanation meeting held in Tokyo today. The first deadline to apply to exhibit is Friday, May 30, and the final deadline for submitting applications is Friday, June 26.

Broadcasting is rapidly going digital around the world, and the official halt of analog broadcasting in Japan is now only four years away. Terrestrial digital television broadcasts are now available in 80% of Japan, and sales of televisions capable of receiving these broadcasts have surpassed 25 million units. New advances are rapidly being made in imaging technologies, ushering in a new age of high-definition (HD) program production and raising the curtain on next-generation broadcasting. What's more, new synergies made possible by the convergence of broadcasting and communications are raising expectations for new services in the future.

This year marks the 44th staging of Inter BEE. Since the show's debut in 1965, it has developed steadily. Today, together with the NAB Show in the USA and IBC in Europe, one of the world's three leading broadcasting equipment. Inter BEE collects in one place the world's top-level broadcasting equipment, imaging equipment, audio equipment, applications and solutions. Visitors from throughout the broadcasting industry and from studios, post-production companies and contents production companies come to Inter BEE for global technology exchange and opportunities to create new demand for their products. In 2007, 754 companies and organizations exhibited at Inter BEE, and a record 35,637 registered visitors attended the show.

As a venue for the world's leading advanced technologies, Inter BEE 2008 is aiming for even more exhibitors and visitors than last year by stepping up efforts to attract creators and engineers at the forefront of the imaging, audio and broadcasting media fields and making the show floor a lively space for the exchange of information and building of new business potential.
