Inter BEE 2008 — Coming Soon! Terrestrial digital broadcasting in Japan commenced on December 2003 in the three major metropolitan areas of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. In April 2006, terrestrial digital broadcast called “1 Segment” for cellular phones and portable terminals also began. Analog terrestrial broadcasts in Japan are currently scheduled to end in 2011. While terrestrial digital broadcasting continues to proliferate across the entire country, video technology is also making steady gains in the broadcast field and high-definition broadcast media has been introduced. The synergetic effect generated by the merger of broadcasting and communications fields is likely to create a need for new services such advanced technological solutions and planning. Inter BEE, which is also known as the International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition, will be held for a 3-day period from November 19th (Wednesday) to 21st (Friday) at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City. This year’s exhibition will be supported by the National Association of Commercial Broadcasters Japan (NAB-J) and the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK). As an international exhibition widely recognized as the professional show for audio, video and communications fields, Inter BEE is ranked with the NAB show in the US and the IBC in Europe in terms of importance in the industry. For this current 44th exhibition, Inter BEE has attracted top-ranked overseas and domestic broadcast equipment, video equipment, audio equipment, peripheral applications and technological solutions together in one convenient location where exhibitor companies can showcase their latest products. Other events that will be held during the exhibition to promote technical exchanges and the sharing of information on an international stage include the Inter BEE Forum where important personnel in the audio and video fields worldwide will be invited to share their views and a Technical Report Conference on Commercial Broadcasting sponsored by the Japan National Association of Commercial Broadcasters. Acting as a critical venue for the communications and broadcast fields, Inter BEE 2008 provides participants with a unique opportunity to enhance their business prospects via information exchanges while allowing both visitors and exhibitors alike to keep abreast of the latest industry developments.
